‘He will be missed’: Gates Bar-B-Q pitmaster killed in hit-and-run

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A pitmaster for Gates Bar-B-Q was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning in Kansas City.

Arthur Lee, 60, was riding a black TAO Motors scooter when a driver ran a red light and struck him at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Eastwood Trafficway at 2:25 a.m. on March 21, according to Kansas City police. Images of the scooters on the manufacturer’s website show gas-powered mopeds.

Police said Lee was turning left onto Eastwood Trafficway from MLK Boulevard with a green turn signal when an unknown dark-colored vehicle traveling northwest on MLK failed to stop for a red light. The vehicle struck Lee’s scooter in the intersection…
