Elderly woman pushed, purse stolen at cemetery. Police ask for help identifying suspect

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect accused of attacking an elderly woman at a cemetery and then using the woman’s stolen debit card.

Police say the suspect pushed the woman to the ground and stole her purse while the victim was putting flowers on her husband’s headstone in Independence. Minutes later, investigators say, the suspect used the victim’s debit card.

Police say the card was used Feb. 17, 2026, at 1:02 p.m. at Express Stop, 8501 Winner Road, in Kansas City. The case number is KC26012708.
