Delta flight to Seattle returns to Kansas City after crew declares emergency

An early morning Delta Air Lines flight bound for Seattle (SEA) returned to Kansas City International Airport (MCI) shortly after takeoff Wednesday when an odor was detected on board, a Delta Air Lines spokesperson said.

The Delta Flight 2105 took off around 8:25 a.m. and soon after the flight crew declared an emergency, returning to Kansas City, where the Airbus A220-300 landed safely. The emergency was declared to obtain priority handling from air traffic control, the spokesperson said.

The flight had 87 passengers and five crew members, who deplaned normally…
