Kansas City National Guard Readiness Center completes nearly $10 million renovation

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A nearly $10 million investment has transformed a decades-old Kansas City, Kansas, building into a modernized facility for National Guard members and youth education programs.

The Kansas City National Guard Readiness Center completed a top-to-bottom renovation, with federal and state lawmakers, including Gov. Laura Kelly, joining the Kansas National Guard for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning at 100 South 20th Street.

The facility, originally built in 1956, serves as a community armory and civil support center. It is also home to Kansas City Starbase, a program that provides STEM educational opportunities to youth.
