Kansas City man sentenced for forging US Treasury checks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City man will spend nearly five years in federal prison after prosecutors say he ran an online scheme.

A federal judge sentenced 25-year-old Jevon P. Crudup, Jr., to 57 months in prison. The judge also ordered Crudup to pay $88,000 in restitution to victims.

Court documents describe a fraud operation that relied on recruiting people he met online. Crudup convinced the victims they were getting in on an easy investment opportunity. Investigators said those recruits handed over bank account information, debit cards and PINs, expecting Crudup would “help them make money.”…
