Timing ‘not ideal’: Kansas City bringing back bus fares weeks before World Cup

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority has been working on ways to help World Cup visitors navigate the city as bus fares return June 1, just weeks before the tournament begins.

Starting June 1, all riders must tap to pay with a credit or debit card or use KCATA’s new app. The bus will not accept cash.

“The timing is not ideal,” said Daniel Fitzpatrick, membership and engagement coordinator at the International Relations Council. “We’re going to have a lot of people from 100 plus countries coming into Kansas City and they’re going to have a lot of stuff to figure out.”
