Text scam targeting Kansans claims recipient has outstanding traffic violation

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Many people around Kansas received a text scam on Sunday.

People are receiving a text that appears to be from the District Court of Johnson County, saying the recipient has an outstanding traffic violation involving their vehicle.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said it is a scam, and there are a few ways to tell.

Everyone who receives the text has the same case number, and that number is in the incorrect format. The text also claims that it is from Judge Michael Rodriguez. The sheriff’s office said there is no judge named Michael Rodriguez in the Johnson County District Court…
