WYANDOTTE COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) — On Friday, April 10, the estate of Charles Adair and his daughter sued the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas, Richard Fatherley, and Sheriff Daniel Soptic in federal court over Adair’s in-custody death in July 2025.
The lawsuit is filed in the United States District Court, District of Kansas. The family is demanding a jury trial and is also suing five unidentified sheriff’s deputies for Wyandotte County.
