Mini liquor bottle ban in Kansas City sparks backlash with Midtown exemption

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City’s ban on mini liquor bottles and single-serve malt beers is sparking backlash from business owners and state lawmakers after the city council voted to remove the Midtown Corridor from its list of restricted areas but left four other areas unchanged.

Kay White, owner of WW Crown Convenience Store on Prospect Avenue, said she is confused by the decision.

“In two weeks, Midtown met some kind of requirement to be removed from that map? I’m confused,” White said. “And once again, behind closed doors, no input from the public, no input from the communities.”
