La Tiara taco shells sold out within hours of return. Company promises restock

The cult-favorite Kansas City taco shells are back at Walmart — that is, if you can get your hands on them.

La Tiara, a local taco shell brand, has been a staple of Kansas City taco nights since 1960. Until last year when the iconic shells disappeared from stores after their Gladstone manufacturer shutdown.

Their absence was a source of distress for fans and members of the “Please Bring La Tiara Taco Shells” Facebook group, which grew to over 20,000 members. The online discourse led to General Mills to buy La Tiara’s assets in June 2025 for $10 million…
