Westwood Police Department mourns off-duty death of officer

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A nearly 14-year veteran with the Westwood Police Department has passed away.

In a Facebook post, Westwood Police in Kansas announced Officer Christopher Bishop died from a medical emergency while at his home on May 3.

Officer Bishop served with the Westwood Police Department for nearly 14 years and more than 20 years as a police officer, the department said. He was also a Marine and Army Reserves veteran.

“As a highly respected patrol officer, motor officer, field training officer and mentor, he shaped the lives of countless people in the community and was recognized across the Department for his integrity and unmatched work ethic,” Westwood Police said. “Colleagues knew him as a steady presence and trusted teammate.”…
