Inspection ordered at Kansas City house heavily damaged by fire

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Inspectors spent Thursday afternoon in an East Kansas City neighborhood after fire damaged a house.

Firefighters responded to the house fire near E. 40th Street and Elmwood Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. Crews reported seeing smoke coming from the second floor of the house when they pulled up to it.

The department said it took firefighters about 15 minutes to put out the fire. The house suffered extensive damage inside. Inspectors will determine if it can be repaired or if it will need to be demolished…
