Voting across Fort Bend County was thrown into chaos Tuesday after a computer system failure disrupted polling locations during the May runoff election, leaving some voters unable to check in as officials scrambled to restore operations.
Fort Bend County Elections Administrator Chase Wilson told Chron the issue began after the wrong file was accidentally uploaded while remotely updating electronic poll books used at voting centers countywide.
“Unfortunately, the wrong file was chosen when performing the update,” he said. “It actually shut down all of the poll booths that the voters check in on whenever they enter a polling location.”…
