A nurse practitioner who presented herself as an authorityonmedical necessity and patient-provider ethics has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison.
Prosecutors said Dr. Scharmaine Lawsonparticipated in a multimillion-dollar Medicarefraudscheme involving medically unnecessary cancer genetic tests.
