Driver was celebrating birthday before high-speed car crash that killed man in Katy: Court docs

New details have emerged in a car crash that left a man dead in the Katy area on Tuesday.

According to court documents, 20-year-old Dejon Fortune is now charged with intoxication manslaughter in a crash that killed 53-year-old Sung Bae on Westheimer Parkway near Cinco Ranch Boulevard. Fortune was driving a BMW X5 with two passengers inside the car, and hit Bae in his Cadillac XT4 at around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, court documents stated.

Before the fatal crash, court documents stated that Fortune had celebrated his 20th birthday party at a friend’s house near Tompkins High School at 8 p.m., and then went to a Taco Bell on Westheimer Parkway…
