Hundreds of Fort Bend ISD students could be rezoned if new school boundaries are adopted this fall

The FBISD school board is proposing 2027-28 boundary changes to align middle school feeder patterns amid declining enrollment and three overcrowded high schools, Stephen F. Austin, Elkins and Travis.

Fort Bend ISD parents have until midnight on Aug. 30 to weigh-in on the district’s proposed attendance boundary changes for several middle and high schools, which, if approved by the school board this fall, could affect where hundreds of students attend school next year.

During the Aug. 17 school board workshop meeting, Deputy Superintendent of Staff Beth Martinez said they’ve been working with the School Boundary Advisory Committee since May to review data within enrollment projections, campus utilization ratios and student needs to identify potential modifications to school boundaries.

Before making any recommendations, the district is asking families, employees and community members to provide feedback through an online survey on the school district’s website…
