A 60-year-old man in Rosenberg, Texas, was arrested after police said he intentionally drove his Chevrolet Equinox through a closed Kroger grocery store because he needed to use the restroom.
The incident happened at approximately 4:28 a.m. Sunday, September 27, at the Kroger in the Brazos Town Center II shopping center, roughly 35 miles southwest of Houston. The store was closed and its doors were locked at the time. According to the Rosenberg Police Department, the driver became upset after discovering he could not get inside and then accelerated into the pharmacy-side entrance.
The impact sent the SUV through the automatic glass doors and into the store. Police photographs showed the vehicle sitting well inside the building, near a display of Halloween candy, with broken glass scattered across the floor and outside the entrance. Portions of the metal door frames were also bent and damaged. Police described the resulting destruction as “extensive.”
