When Dwight Howard entered the free agency market in the 2013 offseason, naturally no expense was spared in the sweepstakes for his signature. This became evident with the heavily interested Houston Rockets , whose then GM, Daryl Morey, uploaded a certain plea video . In it, Houston-born actor Jim Parsons offered a personal message to ‘Superman’ in an effort to persuade him to join his hometown team.

“I promise you that no organization and no fanbase understands and respects the role that an all-time great center like yourself plays in the success of a team the way Houston does and the way the Rockets do. I believe if you play for the Rockets, you could play some of the best and most exciting basketball of your entire career and I think bring home a few rings,” said Parsons.

Parsons’ passionate pitch

Although the character he portrays has no interest in sports at all, the actor himself is often seen at Rockets games. He supports the franchise since ” they had Hakeem Olajuwon,” as he shared in his 95-second plea. Jim recalled that ‘The Dream’ in Texas was always in the limelight, and the same should be applied to Dwight, which would enhance his own title aspirations.
