Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) in Texas has received the 2024 Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization from NAFSA: Association of International Educators. This makes PVAMU the first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) to earn this distinction. NAFSA, a large nonprofit association for international education, serves over 10,000 members across more than 4,300 institutions in over 170 countries. The award recognizes U.S. colleges and universities that have made significant strides in internationalization.
Dr. Godlove Fonjweng, the executive director of International and Intercultural Programs at PVAMU, expressed pride in the university’s achievement. He stated that the award reflects the university’s commitment to internationalization and acknowledged the hard work and collaboration that led to this recognition. He thanked all campus stakeholders for their support.
Fanta Aw, NAFSA Executive Director and CEO, praised the institutions recognized for integrating international education into their systems. She noted that internationalization thrives in various structures and student populations.
