Texans Reportedly Adding Major Offensive Firepower in Blockbuster Trade With Bengals

Joe Mixon will not be hitting free agency after all.

The longtime Bengals’ running back, who on Monday was rumored to be cut at the start of the new league year, will reportedly join Houston after the Bengals and Texans agreed to a trade earlier this afternoon.

Mixon, 27, will become the new lead back in Houston.

“Plot twist: The #Bengals are now trading Joe Mixon to the #Texans , rather than releasing him, sources say. So Zack Moss signs in Cincy, Mixon is traded to Houston. From Joe Burrow to CJ Stroud,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport writes.

A one-time Pro Bowler, Mixon has served as the Bengals’ lead back in every campaign since his second year in the league in 2018.

He’ll replace Devin Singletary, the Texans’ RB1 this past fall, in 2024. Singletary joined the Giants as a free agent earlier this week.
