Sealy police arrest suspect in aggravated robbery linked to online sale

SEALY, Texas – An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with an aggravated robbery that occurred during an online sale meeting, according to the Sealy Police Department. The incident took place on January 4, 2025, in the 200 block of Gebhardt Road.The victim was reportedly robbed at gunpoint while meeting a buyer for an item posted online. Following an investigation, the Sealy Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division identified Deshawn Williams as the suspect. Williams was taken into custody without incident at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of Highway 36 South, the department stated.The Sealy Police Department reminds the public to exercise caution when meeting individuals for selling or exchanging items. The department has designated two marked “Safe Exchange Zone” parking spots in its front parking lot, which are under 24-hour video surveillance, for such transactions.
