Fort Bend County Libraries Recognized with Prestigious Achievement of Library Excellence Award

Fort Bend County Libraries (FBCL) has been recognized by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA) with the 2024 Achievement of Library Excellence Award. This distinction is awarded to libraries that demonstrate exceptional service, programming, and outreach, placing FBCL among the top 102 public libraries in Texas out of 542 statewide.

To qualify for the award, libraries must meet rigorous criteria across ten categories, including literacy initiatives, workforce development, digital inclusion, community collaboration, and cultural programming. FBCL was recognized for a variety of outstanding services, such as its Teacher in the Library program, which provides educational support at the Mission Bend and Missouri City branches, and its Lawyer in the Library service, which offers free legal assistance at the Fort Bend County Willie Melton Law Library.
