HOUSTON — A man was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery after tips from the public helped identify him as the suspect who fumbled his weapon during a January convenience store robbery in east Houston, authorities announced.
Jose Maria Torres, 29, was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office just south of East Freeway, west of Federal Road, just one day after police released another public appeal for information on his whereabouts.
The arrest comes after a months-long investigation into the Jan. 12 incident, in which surveillance video showed a man struggling with his handgun, dropping it into his pants, and falling to the ground before proceeding with the robbery at a store on Federal Road…
