Train drags truck after deadly crash near FM 762 at FM 2759 in Fort Bend County

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead and two others are injured after a dump truck was hit by a train in the Richmond area Wednesday morning, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened around 6:47 a.m. near the intersection of FM 2759 and Nelson Lane, just southeast of the city of Richmond.

Investigators say the dump truck was traveling on Nelson Lane toward FM 2759 when it was hit by an oncoming train at a railroad crossing. The impact was so forceful that it separated the cab from the back end of the truck, dragging debris along the tracks and leaving smoke trailing for a distance.
