Fort Bend ISD’s proposed 2025-26 budget includes staff raises, wellness days and one-time thank you bonus

A new $8.5 billion school funding bill will stave off at least part of the Fort Bend ISD’s projected $34 million deficit.

The legislation, which includes funding for teacher raises, school safety and special education, has been criticized for only addressing raises for certain employees.

To provide a compensation plan that values all staff, Fort Bend ISD leaders said Monday that they would need to raise the district’s tax rate with a one-time use of disaster pennies, which requires board approval.
