HOUSTON (KIAH) – Our repeat pattern of minimal rain chances and hot temperatures continues into the upcoming weekend. Once beyond the weekend, things look a bit more interesting.
A ridge of high pressure will slide east over the southern states late week into the weekend. This heat dome, typically responsible for the relentless hot and dry weather we see during Texas summers, won’t stay overhead for long. In fact, it’ll continue to push east and set up shop over the eastern half of the nation early next week.
Without sinking air directly above us, we’ll have the opportunity for more storms and showers. In fact, these showers could even bring the possibility of heavy rain as abundant Gulf moisture rides the western edge of this ridge. Tropical downpours are possible beginning Monday… but more likely to come Tuesday and Wednesday.
This uptick in storm coverage will shave a degree or two off our high temperatures, keeping most of us in the upper 80s to low 90s early next week.
Keep it on CW39 for all weather updates…
