DOJ: Fort Bend County hospice owners scammed $87 million from Medicare, Medicaid

The owners of three Fort Bend County hospices and another woman defrauded the U.S. government out of $87 million by billing Medicare and Medicaid for end-of-life care for patients who weren’t dying, according to the Justice Department.

The women — Dera Ogudo, Victoria Martinez and Evelyn Shaw — last week were indicted on charges of health care fraud and conspiracy.
