Beaumont native Acynthia Villery, the first Black female professional rodeo announcer, has broken yet another glass ceiling in the rodeo arena.

On April 26, she was one of the first women ever, alongside Mollie Stevenson, to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Black Cowboy Museum in Rosenberg.

It’s merely the latest accolade for a woman whose family tradition of Black cowboys and cowgirls stretches three generations deep, where Villery was immersed in rodeo culture for nearly as long as she can remember…
