Fort Bend County Judge KP George used campaign funds for property taxes, home down payment, prosecutors say

RICHMOND, Texas – Fort Bend County prosecutors have now alleged that County Judge KP George improperly used campaign funds for personal expenses, including property taxes and a home down payment.

The new details emerged in response to a motion filed by George’s defense team aiming to toss the indictment.

In a 25-page filing Monday, attorney Jared Woodfill argued the indictment is flawed, saying, “The indictment is defective in that it fails to allege the essential elements of the offense, lacks the specificity and notice required by law, and attempts to recast non-criminal conduct as money laundering.”…
