HOUSTON (KIAH) – A fugitive who was mistakenly released from a New Orleans jail has been arrested in the Houston area, authorities said.
Khalil Bryan was apprehended Wednesday morning in Cypress, Texas, according to the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office. Bryan was wanted for multiple outstanding felony warrants in Louisiana for home invasion, aggravated assault, child endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Bryan, 30, had been “mistakenly released” from the Orleans Parish Justice Center in July due to a “misidentification between two individuals with a similar last name,” New Orleans officials said at a July 25 press conference, Nexstar’s WGNO previously reported.
Officials said at the time that they were unaware if Bryan knew he was mistakenly released. They launched a search for Bryan immediately after becoming aware of their error.
“I want to make a sincere apology to the people of New Orleans. The mistake and release of Khalil Bryan was a serious error and as sheriff, I take full responsibility,” Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson said in July…
