The Texas Department of Health and Human Services reports that as of Aug. 26, there have been 25 pediatric vehicular heatstroke deaths in the U.S. during 2025, including six in Texas.
The six Texas PVH deaths occurred between June and August in the cities of Brownsville, Mission, Houston, San Antonio, Poteet and Rockwall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that more than 1,010 children have died of heat stroke because they were left or became trapped in a hot car.
