Fagan says Fort Bend deputies need a raise; budget official says he didn’t request one

Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan is pressing for higher pay to keep Fort Bend deputies from leaving for better-paying jobs, but as commissioners finalize the county budget, questions remain over how much he’s really asking for — and whether his claims about past raises add up.

“We’re not asking for parity with HPD or Harris County,” Fagan said during a press conference last week at the sheriff’s office in Richmond. “We’re asking for competitive wages.”
