Sugar Land residents speak out against property tax increase

The average homeowner could see an increase in their annual property taxes of about $95.

Several Sugar Land residents spoke out against the city’s proposed property tax rate increase at a public hearing on Tuesday.

City staff have asked the council to approve a tax rate of $0.36321 per $100 of property valuation, a one-cent increase over last year.
