HOUSTON — Residents affected by the August apartment complex fire in Houston’s Spring Branch neighborhood will now have access to federal disaster assistance.
Governor Greg Abbott announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) approved his request for a disaster declaration, making low-interest loans available to residents and businesses impacted by the fire.
“Texans affected by the Spring Branch neighborhood apartment complex fire will now have access to additional resources needed to recover,” Abbott said. “With this approval, impacted Texans are now eligible for low-interest loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration to help them rebuild their homes and businesses. I thank the Texas Division of Emergency Management for working with our federal partners to help this community move forward.”
What assistance is available
The SBA declaration makes several loan programs available to those who sustained damage in the fire:
- Home Disaster Loans
- Business Physical Disaster Loans
- Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL)
These loans are designed to help residents rebuild homes and businesses and recover from financial losses.
