Join our live virtual event with Mike Morath, head of the Texas Education Agency

Houston Chronicle Live is a virtual event series that peels back the curtains on our newsroom. Readers are invited to join us for VIP interviews, fascinating Q&As and on-the-record discussions on topical issues.

As the state’s Education Commissioner, Mike Morath leads the Texas Education Agency (TEA), which oversees pre-k through high school education for more than 5.5 million Texas students. Locally, Morath and the TEA have become particularly relevant in the wake of the state takeover of Houston ISD. On Wednesday, October 22 at 12 p.m. CST he will join Chronicle columnist Lisa Falkenberg to discuss a range of topics, including curriculum changes, accountability and the big challenges facing Texas teachers.

Our virtual events bring live journalism straight to your laptop, and we encourage attendees to ask questions. Register for the live Zoom with Commissioner Morath here.
