A new center in Richmond is helping Texas children thrive where others said they couldn’t

RICHMOND, Texas — Across Texas, tens of thousands of children with disabilities are waiting for access to Medicaid-funded home and community-based care — but one new center in the Houston area is helping families find relief right now.

Just about a week ago, Tender Care PPEC opened its first Texas location in Richmond, serving Fort Bend, Harris, and surrounding counties. The center provides medically supported child care for children from birth to 21 years old — filling a critical gap in care.

“We’re here as a village for the family. We’re an extension of their family,” said Danya Delarosa, nursing director and administrator for Tender Care in Houston.
