In neighborhoods across Katy, the challenges many families face don’t stop at the school doors. For some students, hunger shadows their daily lives, making it harder to focus, learn, and thrive. But thanks to Katy ISD’s Food for Families campaign—now underway through December 9—the community has a chance to step in with tangible, heartfelt support.
Organized by Katy ISD Partners in Education (PIE), Food for Families is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a community-wide effort to let local families know they’re seen, supported, and not alone. The campaign collects donations to fund $75 grocery gift cards, which are hand-delivered to identified families by campus staff members—often accompanied by handwritten notes and messages of encouragement.
“Each gift card is a reminder that someone cares,” said Kelli Price, Elementary Counseling Specialist for Katy ISD. “It’s more than a gift card—it’s community. It’s our collective effort and it takes each one of us in order to build that sustainable community and to support the growth of our students and our families.”…
