Train derailment in Waller County shuts down roads

WALLER COUNTY, Texas (CW39) — A train derailment in Waller County caused major disruptions Monday afternoon but thankfully no injuries.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office says 17 boxcars derailed along Business 290 near James Muse Parkway. The cars appeared to be carrying gravel.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that: “Business 290 westbound at FM 362 and Business 290 eastbound at James Muse will be shut down for an extended period of time for Union Pacific Police and roadway cleanup following the earlier train derailment. Please expect delays and use alternate routes.”

Old Houston Highway between Blinka Road and G-H Circle was temporarily closed after the incident.
