The vote comes after County Judge KP George has made multiple attempts to hire an outside law firm to advise commissioners court, in place of the county attorney, an elected official.
Fort Bend County Commissioners voted last week to hire an outside law firm to evaluate the authority of the county attorney.
The vote – which was first reported by the Fort Bend Star – was passed 3-2 along party lines, with Republicans voting in favor.
