RICHMOND, Texas — There’s been an arrest in the 2024 stabbing death of a mother of four who was an elementary school teacher’s aide at the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District.
Lamarcus Smith, 39, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder in the death of his wife, 37-year-old Laura Smith, nearly 18 months ago.
The victim was killed last Memorial Day inside the couple’s Richmond home. At the time, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said only that she died from “traumatic injuries.” They’re still not releasing additional details, saying this is an active investigation.
