Louisiana grand jury indicts man in multi-state fake prescription scheme

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Texas man was formally charged after being accused of using fake pharmacy prescriptions to sell drugs.

Darrion Denard Brooks, 28, of Houston, and co-conspirators, allegedly used fake identifying information to get fake prescriptions for controlled substances on behalf of patients who either didn’t exist or for whom medical providers didn’t authorize the prescription.

On Wednesday, a Louisiana grand jury returned an indictment of conspiracy to acquire and obtain controlled substances by fraud, possession with the intent to distribute controlled substances, and four counts of obtaining possession of controlled substances by fraud…
