Top-ranked Brett’s BBQ Shop will close Dec. 28 after seven years in Katy

Brett’s BBQ Shop in Katy will close on Dec. 28.

The restaurant first opened in October 2018 in a small space off Interstate 10 before moving to a larger location at 25220 Kingsland Blvd. Three years later, Brett’s landed among Texas Monthly’s Top 50 barbecue spots, and it became a fixture on the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 restaurants list in recent years, even ranking in the top 25.

“After months of discussions, number-crunching, sleepless nights and every possible attempt to keep the doors open, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close Brett’s BBQ Shop,” pitmaster Brett Jackson and general manager and partner Jacqueline Herrera said in a statement. “This decision devastates us.”…
