Fort Bend ISD announced plans to review seven elementary schools for consolidation or closure this week, as the cash-strapped district reviews its attendance boundaries.
The district plans to gather community feedback on the proposals before making a final decision in March.
“These conversations are not easy, but they are necessary,” Fort Bend ISD Superintendent Smith said in a statement. “While many districts across the state are facing similar challenges, we are committed to navigating this process with care, integrity, and open communication, and to emerge as a model for how districts can address difficult decisions while keeping students at the center.”…
