With a new year comes a new policy in Fort Bend County. The purpose is to ensure contractors assigned to county projects pay workers what they’re supposed to.
“This issue was actually brought by folks from (the Department of Labor). Our partners brought this to us several years ago as a concern of theirs that people were being exploited on job sites, not being paid what they’re supposed to be getting paid, and there have been situations where that’s been the case,” said Dexter McCoy, Fort Bend County Commissioner for Pct. 4.
