Near-record stretch continues, fog remains a driving hazard

Need to know

  • Near-record warmth continues, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s
  • Nightly and morning fog possible near the coast, with better chances overnight and early mornings
  • Low rain chances, but humidity remains elevated

Near-record warmth continues

Clouds will thin at times this afternoon, allowing temperatures to climb into the upper 70s to low 80s once again. That keeps us running well above normal and close to daily record highs. In Houston, the record high for today is 81 degrees set in 2020.

Low temperatures remain unusually mild, only falling into the low to mid 60s. The record high minimum temperature is 68 degrees set in 1931.

Fog again?

Yes, fog season is in full swing. Patchy to areas of dense fog were expected to redevelop last night, especially coastal communities and bays. Fog may also push farther inland at times.

Similar fog conditions are likely again early Wednesday morning through the weekend.

Any rain?

Rain chances remain low, generally around 10 to 20 percent. A little mist or drizzle is possible with the fog and low clouds, and a few spotty light showers cannot be ruled out, but no widespread or heavy rainfall is expected.

Very warm week ahead

This warm and humid pattern holds through much of the week, with temperatures running 10 to 20 degrees above normal. Several days may come close to record highs. The most consistent weather impact will continue to be fog, mainly overnight and during the morning commute, especially near the coast and bays…
