Police issue warning over trespassing at Sugar Land’s historic Char House

Sugar Land police are again warning the public to stay out of the long-vacant Imperial Sugar Char House, saying people—many of them teenagers—continue to trespass at the historic site despite repeated advisories, patrols and arrests.

In a warning posted to Facebook on Tuesday, the Sugar Land Police Department said entering the Char House property remains illegal and dangerous, citing the deteriorating condition of the structure and ongoing safety concerns. Officers said they are still responding to reports of people climbing fences and accessing the building without permission, despite repeat warnings.

“This is private property, and trespassing is prohibited,” police wrote, adding that violators may face arrest. The department also warned that the aging structure is unstable and poses a serious risk of injury.
