Elyzza Guajaca loved car culture. The 24-year-old nursing student fell in love with automotive events after watching the first “Fast and Furious” movie and regularly attended meets throughout Los Angeles. On Christmas night 2022, she stood at the northeast corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Florence Avenue watching a street takeover when Dante Chapple-Young lost control of his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro while doing donuts.
The Camaro clipped a parked tow truck and careened into the crowd of spectators. Guajaca was struck and died from blunt force trauma at the hospital. Six or seven additional victims were identified from video footage, with at least three suffering critical injuries. Chapple-Young abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot, later being arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison in August 2025…
