How a casual question to Siri led a Cypress family to an unforgettable discovery

HOUSTON — A casual question to Siri helped spark the journey that ended with a 2.09-carat brown diamond for a Cypress teacher visiting Crater of Diamonds State Park.

James Ward, a 41-year-old high school teacher from Cypress, found the diamond on Tuesday, Dec. 30, while visiting the park with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two sons, Adrian, 9, and Austin, 7.
