Seven Texas charter schools will close after the 2025-26 school year, according to documents provided by the Texas Education Agency. Four of the schools are in the Houston area.
Texas charter schools serve about 8% of the state’s 5.5 million public school students across nearly 1,000 charter campuses, according to the TEA.
Set to close before the 2026-27 school year are: Bloom Academy, Yellowstone College Preparatory, Two Dimensions Preparatory and Legacy School of Sport Sciences – all in the Houston area – as well as Bridgeway Academy, Essence Preparatory and Meadowland Charter District in other parts of the state…
