Grimes County, Tx (FOX 44) – Three people were killed Thursday in a two vehicle crash on Highway 6 near the Grimes and Waller County line.
DPS Sgt Justin Ruiz said the preliminary crash investigation indicated that about 12:45 p.m. Thursday a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz was traveling was traveling southbound on State Highway 6. A 2020 Freightliner 18-wheeler was traveling northbound, crossed the center median, and struck the Hyundai.
The driver of the Hyundai, 45 year old Charles Ortega of Hempstead, was pronounced dead at the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Mark Laughlin. The front seat passenger 46 year old Travis Morehead of Hempstead was pronounced dead at the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Mark Laughlin. The backseat passenger, 21-year-old Ryan Morehead of Hempstead was transported to CHI St. Joseph Health Grimes Hospital where he later died of his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff…
